Fees

Fees are detailed in the Treatment Agreements in the intake packets.  Payment in full is due at time of service and must be in the form of either check or cash.  Credit and debit cards are not accepted. (Please note that any reports resulting from your visit that you need sent to other providers will be held until your check clears the bank.  To expedite the sending of the report, you may choose to pay in cash.  A receipt will be provided.)

Insurance

We accept most major insurance plans including Medicare.  However, insurers often sub-contract mental health coverage to other companies not listed on your insurance card.  Thus, it is sometimes the case that although Brenda L Wolfe PHD PC (including The Institute) is contracted with the company on your card, we are not contracted with the company that actually provides your mental health coverage.  Conversely, sometimes we are not contracted with the company shown on your card but are contracted with the company that handles mental health for your plan.  Please call your insurer and ask whether you have mental health coverage and confirm that they will cover Brenda L. Wolfe PHD PC.

If you have a plan with which we are not contracted but your plan is part of a network called “MultiPlan,” we can treat you and bill your insurance company.  In this case, however, your out-of-pocket expenses will be higher than if you were to see an in-network provider.

In the event that you are covered by an insurer with which we are not contracted, it may be possible to establish a single-case agreement to allow you to see one of our providers and/or participate in IOP.  Prior to enrollment, every effort will be made to verify insurance benefits and clearly inform you about your financial obligations, if any.

We do not accept Medicaid/Salud!

Please noteEating Disorders Institute of New MexicoSM is a Service Mark of Brenda L. Wolfe PHD PC.  Thus, when speaking with your insurance company, ask about Dr. Brenda L. Wolfe.   That is with whom the insurance companies are contracted.

Regarding the IOP for Eating Disorders

As of February 2012, the following insurance companies have contracted to cover IOP:

  • Aetna
  • Blue Cross/Blue Shield
  • Lovelace Healthcare
  • Presbyterian Health Plan

As additional insurers contract with us, they will be added to this page.  However, the most reliable way to know whether your plan will cover the program is to call the customer/patient service number on your card.

If your insurance company confuses you ….

We understand how confusing the world of health care insurance can be.  If you have spoken to your insurer and still don’t know whether it will cover your treatment, do not panic!  Take a deep breath and call Dr. Wolfe.  505-884-5700.
